Bookkeeper, Harrogate, £18-£20/hr (24-30hrs/week)
An established SME business located in modern serviced offices in central Harrogate is recruiting for a part time bookkeeper. You will be joining a collaborative and supportive business and will play a crucial role in ensuring the company’s financial records are accurately maintained and transactions are processed timely and efficiently.
The successful candidate will work closely with the team and contribute to the smooth operation of their financial processes which can be complex at times. This role requires someone with strong time management skills and a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in all financial activities.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including recording financial transactions, accounts payable and receivable and general ledger entries. Reconcile bank statements and perform periodic financial reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance. Assist in preparing financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
Monitor and manage cashflow ensuring timely payment and collections.
Process employee expense reports and manage petty cash transactions.
Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
Process brand receipts
Assist in preparation of records and documentation for audits and regulatory compliance.
Utilise Xero accounting software to streamline bookkeeping procedures.
Handle any ad-hoc financial tasks as required.
Raise and send Purchase Orders
Balance intercompany accounts
Prepare Invoices
VAT Return
Requirements:
AAT qualified or strong understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures through experience.
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role within finance or accounting.
Strong analytical skills with a problem-solving mindset.
Experience of Xero accounting software is essential
Experience of Balance Sheet Entries
Cash Flow Experience
Ability to Forecast
Intercompany account experience required
Strong knowledge of VAT
Good experience with MS Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
