Accounts Manager
Location: Thirsk | Full-time | Competitive Salary (DOE)
A fantastic opportunity has opened for an experienced Accounts Manager to join a busy and growing accountancy practice, working closely with one of the firm's Directors to manage a portfolio of SME clients. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in practice who’s ready to take the lead on client delivery while mentoring junior staff and ensuring high standards across accounts, tax, and VAT work.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Managing a portfolio of SME clients in collaboration with a Director
• Reviewing accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
• Overseeing VAT returns and personal/partnership tax return reviews
• Ensuring client work is completed accurately and on time
• Training, mentoring, and supporting junior team members
• Communicating effectively and professionally with clients
• Assisting with audits (experience helpful but not essential)
• Handling various ad hoc duties as required
What We’re Looking For
• ACA/ACCA qualified or QBE with significant experience in practice
• Strong knowledge of current UK accounting standards
• Excellent client communication and relationship-building skills
• Proactive and confident in managing work independently and to deadlines
• Ambition and drive to support business development efforts alongside senior staff
Tech Skills You’ll Need
• Proficiency in Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Familiarity with CCH software is advantageous but not essential
