An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Inspector to join a growing steel fabrication business. This permanent position is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in dimensional inspection and quality control, working closely with an experienced and supportive team.
The role plays a crucial part in the quality assurance process, focusing on the accurate measurement and inspection of heavy steel fabrications and machined components. Using advanced electronic and digital measuring equipment, you'll help ensure all components meet precise specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out precise dimensional inspections of fabricated and machined steel components
Conduct in-process and final dimensional control checks using electronic and digital surveying tools (e.g., Trimble, Hexagon, Leica)
Produce clear and detailed inspection reports, including highlighting discrepancies and recommending corrective actions to the production team
Interpret technical drawings and ensure components comply with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements
Requirements
Experience in metrology, quality inspection, or a similar role within steel fabrication or machining
Skilled in the use of electronic/digital measuring devices and survey equipment
Good understanding of GD&T and technical drawing interpretation
Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
Additional Information
Experience Levels: All levels will be considered - training can be provided for the right candidate
Work Environment: Approximately 60% shop floor, 40% office-based
Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 06:00 - 14:00
Friday: 06:00 - 13:00 (39 hours/week total)
Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience, suitability, and capability
