Are you an experienced Management Accountant looking for a broad, hands-on role in a unique and varied business environment? We’re working with a privately-owned group of companies based in rural North Yorkshire to find a commercially minded, detail-driven accountant to join their small and friendly finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their day-to-day work and thrives in a fast-paced, multifaceted organisation. The business operates across multiple sectors, including agriculture, rural leisure, property, equestrian, and interior design — offering exposure to a diverse range of financial responsibilities.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller and working as part of a tight-knit team, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts

  • Conducting balance sheet reconciliations and reviews

  • Providing cost analysis to department managers

  • Producing weekly cash flow forecasts

  • Preparing quarterly UK and foreign VAT returns

  • Maintaining stock records (e.g. livestock/feed)

  • Managing fixed asset registers

  • Processing seasonal payroll (training provided if needed)

  • Supporting with budgeting, forecasting, and year-end accounts

  • Handling ONS submissions and ad hoc finance admin (including some ledger tasks)

What We’re Looking For:

This role would suit someone either AAT qualified, part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA), or qualified by experience. Just as important as your technical background is your ability to work collaboratively and adapt in a dynamic environment.

Key skills and experience:
  • Solid experience producing management accounts (essential)

  • Advanced Excel capability

  • Knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts and Payroll

  • UK and foreign VAT understanding

  • Experience with imports/exports is a plus

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving

What’s on Offer:
  • Competitive salary (depending on experience/qualifications)

  • Company pension scheme

  • 22 days holiday plus bank holidays

  • Discount card

  • Study support (if required)

  • Flexibility around working hours (e.g. school pickups)

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to be more than just a number-cruncher — it’s a chance to play a key role in a growing, entrepreneurial business with real variety.
