A well-established Thirsk business is seeking to strengthen its finance function by recruiting a Financial Controller to join the team.
The organisation is expanding the department to modernise systems and support future growth. An experienced Financial Controller is being recruited to play a key role in delivering accurate management reporting, enhancing processes, and contributing to the development of a high-performing team.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will oversee daily financial operations, supervise junior finance staff, and support the implementation of new, efficient systems. Key Responsibilities:
Reporting
Responsibility for the production of Monthly Management Accounts to agreed deadlines
Responsible for the production of the Annual Budget to agreed timescales
Liaison with the company auditors for production of the Annual Statutory Accounts
Ensure the production of robust management information to agreed timescales
Provide support as required to sales and operations with pricing, margin and operational performance information
Production of quarterly rolling forecasts
Creation and adoption of new performance measures as the needs of the business change
Ensure the Company’s fixed asset register is matched to physical assets on at least an annual basis
Preparation of company payroll
Manage the working capital of the company including preparing short and long range cash flow forecasts, highlighting any concerns or actions required to the Managing Director
Pro-active supervision and reporting of the credit control function to ensure that the Company minimises both the overdue debt and the credit risk through tight control of credit limits
Team management
Management, development and leadership of all employees within the Finance Department to ensure they meet the required levels of performance and reach their potential
Recruitment and induction of new team members so they reach operational efficiency as soon as possible
Compliance
Independent investigations e.g. internal audit, disciplinary investigations, as and when required
To comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements of the Company
Ensure that the Company meets its legislative requirements in respect of Accounting requirements, payroll, VAT etc
This role is best suited to someone with previous experience of manufacturing in a similar role. You will be either ACCA/CIMA qualified or be suitably qualified by experience.
