We are working with a growing entrepreneurial business located in Newton Aycliffe who is looking to appoint a Finance Manager/Office Manager to take ownership of their day-to-day accounts and office operations.

 

This is a key role working as part of a close-knit team. Whilst accounting knowledge is essential, this position goes beyond finance, it requires someone who is highly organised, adaptable and confident in managing office operations and keeping teams accountable.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day finance functions including invoicing, credit control, bank reconciliations and assisting with month-end processes

  • Manage sales administration and general office administration tasks to ensure smooth daily operations

  • Act as a central point of contact in the office, ensuring communication flows effectively and deadlines are met

  • Maintain accurate financial records and support with reporting requirements

  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding payments, maintaining strong relationships with clients and suppliers

  • Provide administrative support to the wider team and senior leadership

  • Uphold office standards, encourage accountability and bring a supportive but firm presence to the team

  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as accountants, suppliers and clients when required

(Note: This is not a direct people management position but does require strong leadership qualities, organisational discipline and the ability to keep the team on track.)

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Background in finance/accounts (e.g. accounts assistant, office manager with finance duties, finance/office coordinator or similar)

  • Strong administration and organisational skills

  • Experience in credit control and financial processes

  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and keep others accountable

  • Adaptable, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities

 

Package & Benefits:

  • Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 depending on experience

  • 21 days annual leave (increasing with service), Birthday off (if it falls on a weekday), + Bank Holidays
