About the Role:
We are looking for aFinance and Projects Accountantto take ownership of day-to-day financial operations within a charitable organisation. This role combines hands-on accounting with project support, management reporting, and financial business partnering. You will provide clear financial insight to senior leadership and ensure robust financial controls, helping the organisation remain financially sustainable while delivering exceptional services to the community.
You will work closely with the Director of Finance, supporting management accounts, budgeting, project costing, and funding analysis. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive accountant to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting
Support the preparation of month-end and year-end accounts in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Assist with annual audits, preparing accurate schedules and reconciliations.
Oversee general ledger activities and monitor regulatory returns.
Management Accounting & Projects
Prepare management accounts with variance analysis and commentary.
Support annual budget setting and cost control across projects.
Provide financial analysis for funding bids, grants, and service costing.
Process Improvement & Systems
Support the development and implementation of finance systems and reporting tools.
Contribute to financial policy development and improved internal controls.
Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and support digital transformation initiatives.
Business Partnering & Support
Build effective relationships across teams to provide financial guidance.
Present financial information clearly for non-financial colleagues.
Assist with business cases, project costing, and financial planning.
Additional Responsibilities
Support fundraising activities where appropriate.
Represent the organisation positively in all interactions.
Person Specification:
Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and reporting functionality.
AAT/ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified or studying towards
Experience preparing management accounts
Solid understanding of financial reporting standards
Knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and financial planning processes
