Payroll Administrator / Payroll Officer
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Type: Full-Time / Permanent
We are looking for an experienced Payroll professional to join our busy and supportive payroll team. You will manage a portfolio of clients’ payrolls from start to finish, ensuring accurate and timely processing while providing excellent client service.
Key Responsibilities:
Register PAYE schemes with HMRC and maintain client payroll records
Process client payrolls, including starters, leavers, adjustments, and statutory payments
Handle 3rd party forms, including Attachment of Earnings Orders
Produce and review payroll reports, manage P45s, and provide payroll journals
Manage auto-enrolment processes and advise clients on payroll legislation
Ensure accurate client invoicing and maintain departmental payroll files
Keep up to date with professional standards and CPD requirements
Support the overall workload of the payroll department and adhere to best practices
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
Experience working in a busy, end-to-end payroll environment
Excellent mathematical ability and attention to detail
Strong organisational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
Competent with Microsoft Excel and good IT skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
Flexible, proactive, and a strong team player
Desirable:
Experience using IRIS Payroll Professional (formerly Star Payroll)
Experience with manual PAYE calculations
Strong decision-making skills
Desire to develop a career in payroll
