Part time or Full time Payroll and Accounts Administrator, Harrogate | £28,500 per annum (FTE) | 

28-35hrs/week, Office Based

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll and Accounts Administrator. This is a varied, hands-on role where payroll will be your main focus, alongside supporting the wider finance team with accounts administration.

The role is full-time (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday) or they can offer part time hours, of 28hours/week+ it is a  fully office based, offering a supportive working environment and strong benefits.

You will take ownership of the monthly payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellent service to employees, while also assisting with day-to-day finance administration tasks.

Key responsibilities include:

Payroll

  • Processing monthly payroll, including new starters, leavers, sickness absence, holiday pay, and maternity/paternity pay

  • Administering SSP, SMP, and SPP schemes

  • Submitting accurate monthly RTI submissions

  • Completing monthly payroll reconciliations for review

  • Providing guidance to staff on pay, tax, and National Insurance queries

  • Administering employee benefits, including pensions

  • Calculating and issuing P60s and P11Ds

Accounts & Finance Support

  • Sales ledger administration

  • Setting up direct bank payments and BACS

  • Managing petty cash

  • Supporting wider finance administration (training provided where needed)

Requirements

  • A strong level of numeracy, educated to GCSE level (A–C) in Maths and English or equivalent

  • Previous experience using payroll systems and payroll procedures

  • Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel

  • Strong administrative skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • A proactive, organised approach and the ability to work well as part of a team
