Management Accountant, Leeds, £40-45,000

An established business in Leeds is recruiting for a Management Accountant with a high level of industry expertise balanced with functional and practical accountancy practices.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate compliance and commercial acumen, proven

Intercommunication  skills and have excellent analytical and numerical ability


You will be able to lead and  manage a small team as well as forming part of the Senior Management Team. You should ideally be qualified to CIMA/ ACCA/ ACA industry standards and have a proven working knowledge of financial management information systems.

Reporting to board level, you will form part of a senior management team to support strategy, provide financial information, and operational planning through commercial awareness and decision-making tasks.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Analyse financial information to assist business profitability and growth
  • Provide accurate and sound management reporting to assist with key decision making
  • Produce month end and year-end financial reports
  • Prepare statutory and management accounts
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and planning process
  • Manage capital expenditure
  • Produce financial statements including P&L accounts, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations
  • Lead, manage, guide and motivate a small team
  • Review accounting processes and practices and improve where necessary to ensure efficient financial operations
  • Accountability for cash flow and production of forecasts
  • Review company assets and liabilities
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for all accounts
  • Assessment of monthly expenses
  • Calculation, presentation and payment of VAT
  • Production of relevant commercial analysis
  • Periodically review reporting produced against customer requirements, to continuously improve output and production methods
  • Liaise with other parts of the business ensuring that strong relationships are built across the Company and good customer service is provided


Requirements : Qualifications, Technical skills and Experience

  • You should be CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified (or equivalent) and have at least 3-4 years’ experience in a Management Accounting, Financial Accounting or Account to Report role
  • You will have the ability to prioritise workload to ensure both short- and long-term goals are met
  • You should be able to show experience of previous process improvement within a similar business environment
  • You will have a high degree of competence in business reporting, using SAGE, MIS & Microsoft platforms
  • You will be comfortable dealing with business stakeholders, representing the company and putting forward commercial and industry business intelligence
