Graduate Tax Consultant, Leeds , £17,000-£25,000 plus study support

Have you just finished your degree or A levels and wondering what to do next? Perhaps you have been thinking about a graduate or apprenticeship role in an accountancy firm, but you’re not sure that it’s for you? Our client, a specialist tax advisory firm based in Leeds city centre can offer a role a bit different to larger accountancy firms. They have a large and varied client base, and deal with complex, interesting tax matters on a daily basis and as a new associate you would have the opportunity to work across all taxes and develop a much broader knowledge, rather than having to immediately specialise in one particular tax. Unlike larger firms, you would not just be doing tax returns!

Working in a smaller firm, you would work directly with the firm’s director and associate directors’ so you have significant support with your personal development, and as well as supporting on tax work, you would also support in the running of the business, marketing, business development and the overall smooth running of the firm.

Due to continued growth, they are now looking for a Tax Associate to join the team.

This role offers career progression as support will be provided for obtaining the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) qualification and the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification.

Hybrid working is available, their office is based in a modern, friendly office in the centre of Leeds, close to public transport.

Role Responsibilities:

·         Researching tax legislation;

·         Report writing and preparing tax advice along with supporting computations

·         Maintaining client and contact databases and processing information in a GDPR compliant manner;

·         Assisting in ad hoc tax jobs as required;

·         Demonstrating commercial awareness by keeping up to date with the ever-changing tax legislation;

·         Taking an active role in the marketing of the company for e.g. writing online blogs, social media posts, attending networking events etc

·         Preparing tax returns;

·         Being aware of the billing situation with the clients you are working on.

Person specification:

·         Able to work on own initiative whilst also being a team player;

·         Strong attention to detail;

·         Willing and ready to learn;

·         Strong IT skills (in particular in Microsoft Word and Excel);

·         Previous tax or accounting related work experience desirable but not essential.

Qualifications:

·         A minimum degree of 2.1 from a reputable university

·         GCSE English and Maths, grade B/6 or above;

·         2 A level qualifications, grade B or above.
