An incredible opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller/ Manager to join a modern, forward thinking business in Middlesbrough as it continues on its strong growth trajectory.
The role offers a real opportunity for the successful candidate to effect positive change and be an integral player of the Finance Team with Head Office in Middlesbrough.
The day-to-day function of this role involves owning the end-to-end finance functions of the business and it two associated companies, managing delivery in all areas of financial management and reporting.
You’ll therefore need to be a numerate, strategic, and intelligent problem solver who is comfortable with cash flow management and end-to-end financial management activities.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
Managing and organising staff in the Finance Department.
Owning the month-end and year-end accounts process, accurately prepare journals, allocations, balance sheet reconciliations and calculate accruals and provisions; liaising with the external accountants on year end.
Managing all invoicing based on project milestones, updating the cashflow forecast accordingly.
Working with the CEO to identify and develop projects for process improvements and lean techniques within the business, working with stakeholders to effectively manage these projects through to implementation.
Oversee payroll, ensuring that individual staff data and payment details are correct and that any inconsistencies or errors are swiftly resolved.
Producing daily, weekly, monthly or ad-hoc reports, accurately reporting on financial and wider business KPIs as required by the business.
Preparation of cash flow forecasts, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
Preparation of VAT, CIS, and other returns
You will be/have:
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent knowledge of accounting processes & terminology.
Proven track record in a similar role with experience of above requirements.
'Handson’ end-to-end financial management experience.
Significant experience of business planning and forecasting.
Knowledge of KPIs across business functions, reporting on trends accordingly.
Familiarity with Xero Accounting Software preferred, although not essential.
Qualified accountant or working towards final ACCA or CIMA qualifications (desirable)
