Financial Accountant, Harrogate, £45,000
Due to growth, a successful property business in central Harrogate is recruiting for a financial accountant to support the Head of Property and Operational Finance. You will also assist with the smooth processing of transactions into the accounting system, maintain reconciliations, deliver project work and provide accurate reporting. The role requires the individual to work alongside internal teams including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking, VAT, Property Accountants and Portfolio Accountants, and other stakeholders of the business.
This is a hands-on position and you should be comfortable on transactional processing abilities, preparing reconciliations and identifying the appropriate processes and controls.
Duties
Supporting the wider finance team
Maintaining reconciliations between systems
Project work –development of processes and various projects
Tenant transactions processing and reporting
Recognition of profits on various funds
Liaising with external outsourced finance team (provision of information and reports)
Communication with external fund investors
Involvement with the operational finance team (banking, accounts payable)
Liaising with external auditors and providing supporting information
Assist with calculating, coordinating and posting portfolio wide adjustments
Drive the process documentation process
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders eg; Investment, Development, Corporate, Utility, Suppliers etc.
Responding promptly and efficiently to general ledger, accounts payable and cash enquiries from various stakeholders (correspondence, emails, telephone calls, etc.)
Analysis of department KPI to drive workloads
Requirements
Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ICAEW or other internationally recognised qualification) is preferred, qualified by experience can also be considered
Shared Service Centre/Operational Accounting Function
Excellent understanding and knowledge of Excel
Experience of processing transactions and understanding impact of related transactions in sub ledgers and general ledgers
Experience of accounting for and reporting on, finance operations and processes
Able to develop standardised process and procedures
Disciplined with excellent attention to detail
· Keen, enthusiastic and self-motivated with the right attitude to drive the team to deliver a high level of service to internal and external customers
· Ability to help supervise a team of largely unqualified, but experienced and dedicated staff
IT literate, particularly in Microsoft Office packages
Property experience desirable but not essential
