​Are you a detail-oriented finance professional looking for a new opportunity? My client is currently looking for a Finance Officer to join their growing and well-established company based in Middlesbrough. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, where you will play a key role in supporting the finance function.

As a Finance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth financial operations, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and supporting key financial tasks such as month-end reporting and HMRC returns. You will also provide administrative support to the team, ensuring efficiency and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answering phone calls and responding to emails

  • Processing sales and purchase invoices in Xero

  • Reconciling bank transactions and credit card charges

  • Managing accounts receivable and ensuring timely collections

  • Supporting month-end P&L completion

  • Processing Direct Debits

  • Assisting in budget coordination, financial forecasting, and variance reporting

  • Supporting the submission of HMRC returns

  • Assisting with payroll processing

  • Providing general administrative support and covering policy/compliance tasks during leave periods

Requirements:

  • Basic finance qualifications (desired but not essential)

  • Experience with Xero (desirable but not essential)

  • Confident customer-facing skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks

  • Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Efficient time management and the ability to work under pressure

  • A proactive approach with a desire to show initiative

Role details:

  • Location: Middlesbrough (Office-based with free parking)

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, full-time

  • Salary: £24,000 - £24,500 (Based on experience)
