Bookkeeper – Accountancy Practice

Location: Harrogate (Office-based)
Hours: Full-time or Part-time (flexible for the right candidate)
Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 FTE (depending on experience)

 

We are working with a well-established and friendly accountancy practice based in Harrogate, currently looking to appoint an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team.

This role offers the chance to work with a varied portfolio of clients across different sectors. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a practice environment, be confident handling multiple client accounts, and enjoy working in a close-knit, collaborative team.

The firm offers a professional yet relaxed working environment, with flexi-time, a predominantly office-based role, and flexibility around hours to suit the right individual.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients

  • Processing sales and purchase invoices

  • Bank reconciliations

  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns

  • Managing and maintaining accurate client records

  • Working with cloud-based software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Dext, and Hubdoc

  • Liaising directly with clients to gather and clarify information

  • Supporting colleagues on other ad hoc projects as needed

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working in an accountancy practice is highly desirable

  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts confidently and efficiently

  • Proficiency with Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and ideally Dext/Hubdoc

  • Strong attention to detail and time management

  • A proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to work independently

  • A team player who is happy to support colleagues when required

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
