Quality Engineer

We are recruiting on behalf of a growing manufacturing business seeking a proactive Quality Engineer to support product and process compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone committed to continuous improvement and professional development, with full internal and external training available.


The Quality Engineer will ensure products meet required standards, supporting new product approvals, internal and external audits, problem-solving activities, and the ongoing maintenance of the Quality Management System.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring product compliance with customer specifications and industry standards

  • Inspecting and measuring products using various equipment

  • Creating documentation for new product approvals and supporting concession processes

  • Managing the quarantine area and assisting with SOP development

  • Conducting internal audits, supporting corrective actions, and assisting with third-party audits

  • Investigating scrap, implementing preventive measures, and maintaining equipment calibration

  • Managing supplier and customer NCRs and leading structured problem-solving activities

  • Supporting creation of flow charts, PFMEAs, FMEAs, and control plans

  • Maintaining the Quality Management System and document control

  • Contributing to departmental KPIs, cross-functional teamwork, and general Quality support tasks

 

Person Specification

  • Strong work ethic with a focus on continuous improvement

  • Analytical, methodical problem-solver with good attention to detail

  • Experience with 5 Whys, Fishbone and RCA (preferred)

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong communication skills and competent in MS Office; MRP/ERP experience preferred

  • Willing to travel within the UK and Europe

  • Able to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances

  • Previous Quality Engineering or similar experience preferred; Rail/Automotive exposure advantageous

 

Qualifications

  • Experience with formal problem-solving (e.g., 8D reporting) – essential

  • Internal Auditor qualification – essential

  • Proficiency in MS Office – essential

  • APQP / PPAP knowledge – desirable

  • ISO9001 and ISO14001 knowledge – desirable

  • IQA Level 4 – desirable
