Senior Personal Tax Adviser
Location: Wakefield (Office Based)
Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week (preferably across 5 days, flexible to 4); Full-time also considered (35 hours/week)
Salary: £30,000 -£45,000 (Competitive DOE)
A well-regarded, independent accountancy practice in Wakefield is currently seeking an experienced Senior Personal Tax Adviser to join their team. This is a key appointment within the firm and offers a clear pathway for progression to Personal Tax Manager, along with the opportunity to expand into specialist client work depending on the candidate’s ambition and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful individual will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring compliance requirements are met while delivering a high-quality, client-focused service. The role will involve:
Preparation and review of personal tax returns for a range of clients including high-net-worth individuals, directors, landlords, and sole traders
Managing compliance deadlines and liaising with clients regarding their tax affairs
Providing advice on personal tax planning opportunities where applicable
Handling HMRC correspondence and enquiries
Supporting junior team members where required
Identifying opportunities to add value to clients through additional advisory or planning work
Working closely with the Partners and senior team on client management and practice development initiatives
Requirements
ATT qualified
Strong recent experience in a personal tax role, ideally within an accountancy practice
Comfortable managing a portfolio independently and meeting deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
Commitment to professional growth and delivering exceptional service
Experience with ad hoc tax planning or advisory work
Exposure to software such as CCH, IRIS, or similar
