​Are you a Mechanical Design Draughtsperson looking for your next move? I’m currently working with a long-standing client who’s looking to add someone experienced, hands-on, and enthusiastic to their team. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their work and can get stuck into the day-to-day running of a busy engineering business.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and develop detailed fabrication and general arrangement drawings using SolidWorks

  • Compile material specifications and costings for quotations

  • Source and order required materials in line with project requirements

  • Prepare documents and provide general administrative support to the drawing office

  • Assist with project coordination and provide support across various stages of development

  • Attend site visits to take accurate measurements and liaise directly with clients

  • Interpret client briefs to produce practical and cost-effective design solutions

  • Work closely with fabricators during the manufacturing process to ensure designs are implemented accurately

  • Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, architects, and structural engineers to fully understand project scope and expectations

  • Apply a commercially minded approach to design, considering budget and efficiency at all stages

  • Maintain a solid understanding of manufacturing techniques, installation processes, and industry best practices

  • Carry out general office duties as required to support the smooth running of the department

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A strong understanding of engineering principles and design practices

  • Solid mathematical and analytical skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

  • A self-motivated and proactive attitude, with the ability to manage their own workload

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel

  • The ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • A flexible approach to working both independently and as part of a team

Job Details:

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

  • Job Type: Full-time

  • Salary: from £35,000 per year - negotiable depending on experience

  • Holidays: 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays

  • Free on-site parking
