Our client, located in the Middlesbrough area, is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager with proven experience in Construction, Civil or Petrochemical Engineering. This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving the HSE strategy, ensuring compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture across all operational areas.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s HSE strategy, policies, and management systems
· Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities
· Provide expert HSE advice and guidance to project teams and operational staff
· Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
· Deliver HSE training, inductions, and toolbox talks to promote awareness and engagement across all levels
· Maintain and update all HSE documentation, procedures, and reports
· Liaise with external stakeholders including clients, regulatory authorities, and auditors
· Promote a culture of continuous improvement and best practice across the organisation
Key Requirements:
· Proven experience in an HSE management role within construction, civil, or petrochemical engineering
· NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
· Practical experience with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 management systems
· Strong understanding of current UK HSE legislation and industry best practice
· Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills with the ability to influence at all levels
· Clean driving licence and access to vehicle required for site visits
Working Hours: Monday – Friday (Hours to be discussed)
