We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join a dynamic group of companies based in Guisborough. This pivotal role involves managing the financial operations across multiple businesses within the group, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic financial oversight. You will play a key part in driving the financial success and growth of the group through detailed management accounting, budgeting, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and consolidate monthly and annual management accounts across all group companies
Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, tax regulations, and accounting standards
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Monitor cash flow and manage treasury functions, including intercompany transactions and funding
Oversee payroll operations, including CIS, PAYE, and subcontractor payments, ensuring full HMRC compliance
Support year-end accounts preparation and coordinate with external auditors
Manage cost tracking and job profitability for construction projects, including WIP, retentions, and cost-to-complete
Oversee finances for the motorsport team, including budgets, sponsorship income, and international expenses
Collaborate with project managers and operational leads to maintain financial control and performance monitoring
Supervise and support the finance team, delegating tasks and encouraging development
Drive improvements in finance systems, reporting processes, and internal controls
Provide commercial and strategic financial insight to inform business decisions and growth initiatives
Assist with ad hoc projects such as funding applications, system upgrades, or M&A activities as required
Key Skills & Experience
Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience
Proficiency in Sage 50 and Microsoft Excel
Experience in construction, engineering, or a similar project-based environment is preferred
Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
Proactive, organised, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on setting

Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 per annum (FTE if part-time)
