​Employment Tax Senior Manager / Director

Location: Newcastle

A growing professional services firm is seeking an experienced Employment Tax Senior Manager or Director to join their expanding tax team. This is a client-facing role with responsibility for delivering complex and high-quality Employment Tax advice across a diverse portfolio of clients, predominantly family-owned and owner-managed businesses.

The Role

You will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise in Employment Tax, supporting clients and mentoring junior team members.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and managing a varied portfolio of clients.

  • Providing strategic support to the Employment Tax leadership in developing the team and service offerings.

  • Establishing scope and budget for projects and briefing team members appropriately.

  • Delivering high-quality Employment Tax advice, covering areas such as HMRC enquiries, employment status/IR35, National Minimum Wage, and more.

  • Supporting wider tax projects including due diligence, CCO, and SAO reviews.

  • Growing the Employment Tax team through business development and relationship building with key clients and sectors.

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with external parties, including HMRC, employment lawyers, and industry bodies.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong technical expertise in Employment Tax.

  • Significant experience in a senior practice role.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Commercial awareness and strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Leadership and mentoring skills to develop junior team members.
