​An opportunity has arisen for an experienced accountant to join a fast-paced business in their finance department. Reporting to the finance director, the successful candidate will have a hands-on approach to managing the day to day running of the finance department whilst also being solely responsible for preparing payroll and producing the accounts for a number of smaller subsidiary entities. Interested candidates must be confident, self-motivated and professional in approach with an eye for detail.

Responsibilities: 

  • Supervising Assistant Accountant

  • Producing weekly and monthly payrolls (BrightPay)

  • Assisting with month end procedures including preparation of company accounts to TB level

  • Reconciling General Nominal Accounts including multi-currency bank accounts

  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register

  • Reconciling company credit card statements and PayPal account

  • Liaising with external accountants and auditors

  • Purchase ledger;

     - Coding and inputting of invoices and credits and obtaining appropriate authorisation for payment

     - Generation of supplier payment runs and sending of remittances

     - Multi-currency payment entry onto bank and allocation to supplier accounts

     - General upkeep of purchase ledger and resolution of any queries.

  • Sales ledger;

     - Credit control / debt collection – proactive approach to debtor management with monitoring and chasing of aged debt over the telephone

     - Bank receipt allocation, banking of incoming cheques and cash allocation

     - Assisting with customer queries and passing to relevant department as and where necessary

     - Credit limit review

     - Monthly statement distribution

Person Specification:

  • Passion for accounts with a keen eye for attention to detail

  • Must have a logical mind / working process

  • Preferably AAT qualified or part qualified CIMA (or equivalent experience)

  • Must be “questioning” 

  • Be a strong, cooperative and outgoing person

  • Must be self-motivated and organised to be able to complete the job tasks and manage them simultaneously

  • Polite and confident telephone manner
