We’re working with a long-established, family-owned business in Seaham that operates multiple ventures from one site and is now looking to appoint a Part-Time Bookkeeper.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper who enjoys variety, autonomy, and working closely with business owners in a friendly, down-to-earth environment, taking ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping and ensuring accurate, timely financial records across all entities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for multiple businesses

  • Processing purchase and sales invoices

  • Completing bank reconciliations

  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns (with support available if needed)

  • Liaising with on-site teams and external accountants

  • Supporting year-end processes and providing information to accountants

  • Assisting with general administration tasks where required

  • The Payroll is currently outsourced, so payroll experience isn’t essential, but would be a bonus if you’re happy to take this on in the future.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven experience in a bookkeeping role

  • Experience managing accounts for multiple businesses

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

  • A confident and approachable communication style

  • VAT experience (desirable but not essential)

  • The ability to liaise effectively with external advisors

  • Sage experience preferred, but experience with Xero, QuickBooks, or similar systems is also welcomed – training will be provided

Working Pattern

  • Part-time: approximately 3 days per week

  • On-site presence required for at least 2 days per week - some flexibility may be available once you’re established in the role

If you’re an experienced bookkeeper looking for a varied, people-focused role with flexibility and strong support, this could be an excellent next step.
