The Opportunity

A well-established Chartered Accountancy practice in Huddersfield is looking to recruit an Audit Senior / Assistant Manager to join its growing Audit and Assurance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced audit professional looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and progressive practice.

The successful candidate will work with a varied portfolio of SME clients, taking responsibility for planning and delivering audit assignments while building strong client relationships and supporting the development of junior team members. Key Responsibilities

· Lead audit assignments for a varied portfolio of SME clients, from planning through to completion, with support from Audit Managers and Partners where required.

· Prepare audit files and working papers, ensuring assignments are completed accurately, efficiently and in line with professional and regulatory standards.

· Assist with audit planning, identifying key risk areas and ensuring appropriate audit procedures are carried out.

· Build positive working relationships with clients, acting as a key point of contact throughout the audit process.

· Prepare draft management reports and communicate audit findings to managers for review.

· Supervise, support and review the work of trainees and junior auditors, providing guidance and on-the-job coaching.

· Ensure assignments are delivered within agreed timescales and budgets, escalating any issues where appropriate.

· Identify opportunities to improve audit processes and contribute ideas to enhance client service.

· Support Audit Managers and Partners with ad hoc assignments, technical work and business development activities as required.

· Keep technical knowledge up to date and maintain compliance with current accounting and auditing standards.

About the Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in external audit within a UK accountancy practice and be looking to further their career within an established and expanding audit department.

They will also demonstrate:

· Practice audit experience is essential.

· Ideally 3+ years' experience working within an Audit and Assurance team.

· ACA or ACCA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience will all be considered.

· Strong knowledge of UK audit and accounting standards.

· Experience working with SME clients across a range of sectors.

· Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

· Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.

· A proactive approach and a genuine desire to develop professionally.

· Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members would be advantageous.
