The Opportunity

A well-established Chartered Accountancy practice in Huddersfield is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious audit professional looking to manage a varied portfolio of SME clients while playing a key role in developing junior team members and maintaining the firm's high technical standards.

Working closely with senior leadership, the successful candidate will oversee audit assignments from planning through to completion, build long-term client relationships, and provide valuable commercial insight and recommendations. Key Responsibilities

· Manage a varied portfolio of SME clients, delivering a high-quality audit and assurance service.

· Plan, oversee and review audit assignments, ensuring work is completed efficiently, accurately and in line with professional standards.

· Prepare and review audit plans, identifying key risks and ensuring appropriate audit approaches are adopted.

· Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing proactive advice and identifying opportunities to add value.

· Deliver audit findings, management reports and practical recommendations to clients and key stakeholders.

· Ensure compliance with relevant accounting, auditing and regulatory standards.

· Delegate work effectively across the audit team, reviewing completed work and providing constructive feedback.

· Mentor, coach and develop junior team members, including conducting appraisals, providing ongoing support and identifying training needs.

· Monitor workflow, resource planning and productivity to ensure deadlines and budgets are consistently achieved.

· Assist with new business opportunities, including supporting client tenders and proposals where required.

· Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider practice to deliver an exceptional client experience.

About the Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Audit Manager or a Senior Auditor ready to take the next step into management. They will possess excellent technical knowledge, strong leadership skills and a genuine passion for developing people.

They will also demonstrate:

· ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).

· Significant experience within a UK accountancy practice.

· Strong knowledge of UK audit and accounting standards.

· Experience managing a portfolio of SME clients.

· Excellent communication and relationship management skills.

· Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

· A proactive and commercial approach to client service.

· Previous experience supervising, mentoring and developing junior staff.
