​Job Overview

We are recruiting for an Audit & Accounts Senior to join a regional firm of Chartered Accountants based in Chesterfield. The role involves providing effective support to directors and managers, ensuring work is completed to a high technical standard, deadlines are met and strong client service is maintained. You will take responsibility for leading audit assignments and completing accounting work in line with the firm’s procedures.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead audit fieldwork assignments, including planning, budgeting and organising work prior to commencement

•Complete audit testing on key risk areas and liaise with clients to resolve queries, escalating complex matters where required

•Review work completed by trainees to ensure it is ready for manager/director review

•Work to internal and external deadlines, ensuring files are completed to the required standard

•Prepare statutory financial statements (primarily under UK GAAP) and draft tax computations

•Provide coaching and constructive feedback to junior team members

•Maintain a high standard of client care and communication

•Assist with billing processes and monitoring recoveries

•Ensure compliance with the firm’s quality assurance procedures

•Identify opportunities for additional services and begin developing external networks

Skills & Experience

•ACA or ACCA qualified

•Experience planning and leading external audits within an accountancy practice

•Good technical knowledge, including FRS 102 (Charities SORP experience beneficial)

•Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint

•Experience using audit software (MyWorkpapers advantageous)

•Salary: £40,000 – £45,000, depending on experience

•36.25 hours per week, Monday–Friday (09:00–17:30), with travel required for audit work
