Accounting Director / Partner

A well-established and growing professional services firm is seeking an Accounting Director or Partner (depending on experience) to join its Business Services team. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced accountant who is commercially minded, client-focused, and motivated to help shape the future direction of a high-performing practice.

The Role
As an Accounting Director or Partner, you will take ownership of a portfolio of clients while providing leadership across the Business Services function. You will play a key role in delivering an exceptional client experience, developing talent, and contributing to the firm’s continued growth.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and conducting client meetings and acting as the primary relationship manager for a designated client portfolio.
Managing and approving fees for your client portfolio.
Setting objectives for direct reports, monitoring performance, and supporting professional development.
Reviewing team and individual performance against agreed objectives and departmental KPIs, providing feedback where required.
Signing off and authorising accounts, returns, and related documentation where legally permitted.
Developing and maintaining a strong professional network to support business development and new client acquisition.
Identifying opportunities to cross-refer services and support wider advisory offerings.
Supporting recruitment activity and managing people-related matters within the team as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
Be a qualified accountant (ICAS, ICAEW, or ACCA).
Hold a full UK driving licence.
Have extensive experience preparing non-statutory accounts, sole trader and partnership accounts, and statutory financial statements in line with UK GAAP.
Possess strong technical knowledge across UK taxes, including personal tax, corporation tax, VAT, and capital taxes.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of wider professional services to identify cross-selling opportunities.
Be an effective and adaptable communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
Have proven experience leading, managing, and developing teams.
Be commercially focused with the ability to identify and drive business development opportunities.
