My client a firm of Accountants based in Wetherby are seeking to welcome a new Accountant to the team.

You will be will be friendly, detail-oriented and able to work independently while posessing the ability to develop and adapt to new challenges in a profession undergoing continual change.

The successful candidate will report to senior Chartered Accountants, but will also be expected to carry out certain aspects of the role independently.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing annual financial statements for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
  • Preparing Corporation Tax returns and computations, including capital allowance claims.
  • Processing client payroll, including assisting with the compliance elements of auto-enrolment.
  • Preparing and filing client VAT returns.
  • Bookkeeping work from client records, including preparation of management accounts.
  • Filing accounts and confirmation statements with Companies House.
  • Dealing with other company secretarial matters, such as appointing officers and changing registered office addresses.
  • Liaising directly with clients on routine matters via telephone, email and face to face.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Qualified to a minimum of AAT level 3, or equivalent knowledge gained from experience working in the profession.
  • Comfortable working with a variety of computer packages. Previous experience working with Sage50, Excel, Word and Outlook are essential. Experience with cloud bookkeeping packages such as Xero, Quickbooks, FreeAgent, Kashflow and/or SageOne are desirable. Experience working with the Digita practice suite and Docusoft document management system would be a bonus.
  • Training for Digita and Docusoft, along with cloud bookkeeping packages will be provided where the candidate lacks experience, so a keenness to learn new skills is essential.
  • A good level of written English in order to communicate clearly and effectively with clients in a tone that accurately represents the values of the practice.
